I use a wireless laptop and rely on the Sky broadband connection that my hardwired P.C. receives. I decided to install Regcure on my laptop but when I completed a clean my laptop crashed. When I rebooted I ended up with a blue screen. It took several hours to get to my settings page and even then I couldn't open Regcure to do a restore. Eventually I managed to access the much needed file and restore it manualy. My system worked again. Regcure support told me not to erase File/Path Reference errors for a little while and then try doing so. Can anyone tell me what these are and what could be the conequences of including them in a scan and fix. I am obviously worried that I will get another blue screen. I pressed that many buttons to try and exit the blue screen that I am not sure which one did the trick. Has anyone got any thoughts on that ?

    Regards Alex

I suppose that you paid for that software?

The safest registry cleaner is CCleaner and it FREE!! It hasn't failed me once. When backup done of the registry and something isn't right, one can always merge it back into the registry.

Additionally, it cleans unnecessary crap from the machine and a host of other goodies.

    Here's the link. http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_No_Yahoo_Toolbar_English_d4191.html

Try it, you'll love it. :)

    Cheers Oma,
I have got Cleaner and you are right it doesn't cause problems. I only bought Regcure because it came up with a load of errors on a free scan.
This was after a clean with Cleaner but I guess I was conned eh?
    Regards Alex

Yep, you were conned and got the blue screen on top of that!! Stick with CCleaner and dump Regcure. Lesson learned eh?

Yes conned Oma. Have you any advice on exiting the Blue screen in case it happens again ? Also Regcure have requested the log files ,about 10 altogether but I don't know how to attach them to an email. I have clicked the attach button but when I open the folder there is no select to attach button. I am using Yahoo mail. Any ideas?

Hmm, after a search on google, there are so many articles about the blue screen and how to fix it. There are so many reasons why one can get the blue screen. This link is one of many. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/201352/how_to_fix_the_blue_screen_of_death.html?cat=59

Personally, I've never had a blue screen yet. *knocking on wood frantically*

Strange, I've got also Yahoo mail (from my ISP provider) but have no problems in attaching whatever. Look at your settings in email and see if somethng needs to be changed. Otherwise, talk to your ISP provider or a member here would know the solution to this one.

They'll "examine" the files, "find the problem, and try to have you reinstall RegCure.
    Right back to square 1.
