Problems with sound/speakers stopin after varied short times? Setting issue?

Hi Guys

Happy New Year!

I have a problem with my sound/ speakers.

If I play "anything" (utube movies, skype, DVD) the sound stops after 20 - 70 seconds...variable each time (no specific cut-off time).

I can then go back to it and it will start again, but then after so many seconds stop again.

I am sure it is a simple setting, but I cant work it out. Am considering restoring my laptop to 4 mths ago when this prob started but that will be a last result due to additional software I have added since.

I am running Windows 7. Do you need anymore info. The sound driver says it is working properly. I am miffed.

Any help v v v v welcome.

I have been trying to narrow down the options for the problems and with just simply playing a DVD after 20-40 seconds (variable) the sounds stops. If I then stop the DVD wait a bit and then start up again the sound comes on the then stops again after to many seconds, again variable.

I have then plugged in speakers and then the sound works fine. So is it a hardward problem on my laptop??

Any ideas.
