Problems with The Orange Box

HI, i got a new computer the other day and i installed the orange box but i can't play any of the games. It gets past the preparing to launch box and gets to the point where there is a background (different for each game) with the loading box in the bottom corner, and after a minute or so, it closes and says that the program has encounted an error.

I've try'd so many things to fix it that i cant keep track. None seems to have done anything as of yet. Has anyone got any ideas or encounterd this problem on a similar spec? Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Here's my spec:

Dell Studio XPS
Intel i7 920 2.67GHz
6 gig DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512mb
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit

Hi

If you go into the Error Logs and from the time of the games crash are their any listings of an error with Orange Box or if the file is not named as Orange Box one from exactly the time of a crash? then please post it as its file may hold a clue as to whats causing this.

Also try some updates, if the game has any updates get and install them, update your graphic cards driver to latest one.

Also try with your security applications disabled, one maybe causing a conflict or error when scanning a running file.

lastnight i tried running them with my firewall/antivirus (Comodo) disabled, it worked perfectly. So it seems that Comodo and Steam/source games don't get along.

Hi

In Comodos firewall software list check to see if Steam.exe is allowed and trusted application, may just need to allow the exe to the game as well as steam, so that you can have the firewall active while playing the game.
