This is actually my uncle's problem, but I am not able to fix it so I am posting here. His computer is some HP (I think) computer, running at 3GHz and 1GB of RAM. When he tries to watch some streaming movies, especially on this one website he goes to often, the movies simply show up as a green screen, but the movie/video is actually playing. You can hear the sound, it's just that visually there's nothing. I went to his house today and tried to fix it for him by downloading the K-Lite Standard Codec pack. It fixed it in the sense that I have to download the video before being able to watch it, but he is still not able to stream videos. He also tells me that it works on the "upstairs computer", it's just that it doesn't work on his.

Just other information that might be useful... He uses AOL dial-up (AOL everything; browser, email, etc.), so I don't know whether that MIGHT affect it... I've never used AOL so I wouldn't know whether or not that could be a problem. Anyways, any sort of help would be great! Thanks.

This is the closest I have on hand. Easy to try. Might do it.

I'll give that a try and let you know how if it worked, thanks.

DialUp isn't great for streaming video as it doesn't have the bandwith.

It also depends on the video format.

For example, it may be flash video (.flv), which requires MacroMedia Flash to be installed.

The problem is that the exact same video works perfectly fine on his other computer that's hooked up to the exact same internet... and it's not exactly nice to tell him to just go to that other computer if he wants to watch a video instead of trying to fix the problem... Also, the video was a .wmv I checked the actual link of the video so I could stream it directly into Windows Media Player rather than streaming off of the website and it worked somehow... Just doesn't work when it's running on the page.

@infoseeker: I've already done that. And this is the scenario...

Let the video be called Video X
My uncle's computer be called Computer 1
The other computer in his house be called Computer 2

Video X works on Computer 2 perfectly fine. Everything streams perfectly off of the website in WMP on Computer 2. However, Video X DOES NOT work on Computer 1. I have downloaded the K-Lite Standard Codec pack (didn't bother with full, because his dial-up internet downloads at 5 kb/s and it would've taken forever to download the full codec pack) on Computer 1, but Video X still DOES NOT work on Computer 1...

Then it's more than likely codecs. No codec pack contains every required codec.

This problem is still not resolved so I'm bumping it again...

It's streaming off of the website, and the website is using WMP for that specific video. And also, if I load that video externally on WMP, it works fine. It just doesn't seem to want to work when it's being ran inside the browser window... And to repeat, he uses AOL... I'm not sure whether or not this would affect anything though, because his other computer that's hooked up the exact same way works perfectly fine.
