    for 1.5 years my computer has never really worked right. i got if off ebay and it would always suddenly crash especially when playing games. after a while i took it to compusa they had it for a month. they said it was the RAM so i bought some new RAM. worked fine for several months. it then came back.

    i thought it could be overheating (vid card) it felt hot mayb it was just warm. i added another fan it cooled down but it still presisted. i tried using the programs everlast or everest, and memtest86 on the card and RAM but nothing really came up. i thoguht i would switch the RAM sticks postions with eachother. turn on the computer heard a spark and saw and smelled smoke. immediately turned off, but couldnt see where smoke was coming from.

    the moniter then said no signal and i couldnt get anything to come on the screen.(the moniter worked after i hooked up to an older computer). the computer turns on but no output to the moniter. all the fans work. power comes on. vid card gets warm and its own fan works.am able to open the dvd/cd drives. seems like the harddrve other drives are spinning/moving.

    i know something needs to be replaced but not sure excatly. please help thanks";

    If you have onboard video enable it in the BIOS & take the vid card out. What happens?

    Probably a good time to run a memory test also.
