Probs with Vista and Roxio EMC 10

Please someone help, Ive tried everything!

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Dell Dimension 9200

3070 RAM 32 bit OS

Intel Core 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz

I am very sorry this is so long winded!


After I installed Roxio EMC 10 I get following startup errors when I start Windows

1: Resource loader:LoadImage method -

Skin image "MenuSeparator.png" found but cannot be loaded

2: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library -

Program:C:\Program Files\...

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in a unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

3: RoxMMTrayApp Module has stopped working -

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

OK, so those are the 3 startup errors I get. I then try and start EMC 10 and I get the following messages:

1: Roxio Central Tools:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'TOOLS.msi' in the box below.

I press cancel and then get message:

2: An installation package for the product Roxio Central Tools cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'TOOLS.msi'

I click OK then get message:

3: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'BMPLE.msi' in the box below.

The box below shows this source:

C:\Users\mick\AppData\Local\Temp\WZSE0.TMP\RCP_DATA_36

I click cancel and get message:

4: same as 2 asking for 'BMPLE.msi'

I click OK then get message:

5: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'COPY.msi' in the box below.

The box below shows this source:

C:\Users\mick\AppData\Local\Temp\WZSE0.TMP\RCP_COPY_36\

I click cancel and get message:

6: same as message 4 but asks for 'COPY.msi'

I click OK and get message:

7: The feature ...... is unavailable.
Click OK to try again .......same as message 5 asking for AUDIO.msi

I click cancel and get message:

8: Same as 6

I click OK and the EMC 10 starts up.

In the program, if I click on burn image a box comes up saying:

The setup must update files or services that cannot be updated while the system is running. If you choose to continue a reboot is required to complete process.

I click OK it then asks again for COPY.msi
EMC10 then lets me burn to disc with no probs?? Bizarre!
If I click CopyDVD's an error pops up:

Cannot initialize burn engine. Please reinstall software.

I have installed EMC10, uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled. Tried the fixes on Roxio forums, deleted registry entries then reinstalled etc etc... but I am still getting all these error messages.

 

May or may not help. But, try uninstalling, then reinstalling as admin. I.E. Right click on the installer, the select run as administrator.

If you still have the errors. Do the same "run as administrator" on the individual app you are trying to run.

 

You're not alone, I've had essentially the same problems and messages trying to install EMC 10. I will try uninstalling an re-installing, but I'm not optimistic. Roxio software is infamous for being difficult and for being incompatible with other software; I should have known better than to buy the product. If I get it to work, I'll post my solution.
