processer vs gaming

whats processer DO for gaming? does it help the game run better, if you gave a processor that has a higher Ghz run the game better?

 

The processor is the main 'brain' of the PC and does exactly what it says: it "processes" every "process" that takes place in the PC. This applies to EVERYTHING from games, to surfing the web, to drawing your screen saver, to typing a document in Word. So, the higher the GHZ of the processor, the faster it can work through all the tasks (or processes) it's been given. But, everything in a PC works hand in hand. If you have a quad-core processor, but only 128mb of memory and an old x1300 256mb video card, you're not gonna play Crysis. A good gaming PC would consist of a dual-core processor of at least 2.6ghz, at least 2gb of memory, and 512mb video card with a 256bit bus. This PC should be able to play most modern games at medium to medium-high settings, but this depends on the game....

 

thanks cus im kinds buying a monster gaming rig and id just like to know what everything does, so basically the graphics cards and the ram do all the work and the CPU just puts it together?

 

Hello, to have a good gaming pc then it has to have a good overall performance, so make sure that whatever your buying/building has a good dual core or quad core processor with a good amount of ram 4GB PC2-6400 800MHz will do and last but not least a good graphics card such as nvidia geforce 9600gt, or something along the lines of ati radeon 3870 or 4670.

Be aware what I recommended is a decent gaming pc not some crazy beast that will thrash every other pc!
