    here are the stats...

    Board: Asus CUW-AM/MEW-AM 2.02

    1.10 gigahertz Intel Celeron
    32 kilobyte primary memory cache
    128 kilobyte secondary memory cache

I'm looking to get a faster processor... (for obvious reasons :p) not gaming quality but right below it...

My main problem is i cannot seem to figure out what exact socket it is...

or would it be easier to get a brand new board and cpu together?

Is this Asus mobo in a HP?
If so it's probably an old FC-PGA socket 370 and 1.1Ghz is about the limit for it.

so its a FC-PGA socket 370 hmm... be better to get a new board then... <.< not exactly what i wanted but... win some, lose some

what would you suggest? I'm a cheapskate :p
just need a faster processor... 1.5 or higher is what i'm wanting...

If you need 1.5Ghz or higher you're going to have to move up to a at least a socket 478 mobo if you want to stay with Intel. So that means new mobo, cpu and possibly different RAM. If you are still running the original HP PSU, you'll probably need a higher wattage PSU.
Probably be cheaper to get a newer/used system...something like THIS

Well, you can switch over to a PIII and pick up some speed, and the chips go as high as 1.4 Ghz, Pentium has more L2 Cache sometimes double. This would make a noticeable difference, but with out switching over the board, power supply, ram, possibly case (are Hp's propriatary with their main board connections, I think so, I know this brio I have at my feet is) and while you're at it everyone wants a bigger drive, and a new DVD burner...opps thats a new system, you should max out your ram, and save your pennies for a newer system.
