    Ok, I've currently got a P4 Prescott 3.0 Ghz 1Mb L2 Cache (SSE3)
    with 2.5 Gb Ram.
My friend tells me his old P4 Northwood 3.4 Ghz 512kb L2 Cache would be faster (he is buying a new processor) and is offering it to me for 30 bucks.
What do you guys think, would there really be any difference in speed, for that money?
Stuff I use my computer for:
    Counter-Strike
Any new games that come out that I just want to demo (Crysis barely ran)
Photoshop or just multi-tasking like chatting, itunes, firefox..etc..
    Thanks!

Could be wrong but I don't think that will make hardly a difference at all. (Please correct me if i'm wrong) However how old are both the processors? If his is much newer than yours (over one year) than I would go for it, only because it is worth the 30$ to add another year, ideally, to your processor life.

well his IS about a half year older BUT he did not leave his computer on nearly as much as I do. I am sure I raked up way more hours with the prescott than he ever did with the northwood.

the prescott core is the newer of the 2 cores.I would stay with the prescott w/1meg cache I have a northwood 3 gig and I had a prescott and the prescott felt more responsive then the northwood. Your processor is fine for what you do. If you want to upgrade go dual core.
