Processor Speed Question

    Can a processor slow down if it is not cooled properly with thermal compound?

    I have a new cpu in my socket with artic silver 5 between it and the heatsink. My question really is, can the processor slow down if I have'nt put the compound on properly? Will a processor slow down if so?

    Most cpu's will throttle down when extremely hot, but you really need to know what temp it is, down load this free app, it will tell you what you need to know and give you a choice of fan speed if your m-board supports it. ed
