I bought an Intel Pentium 4 processor socket 478 but when i put in my computer it wouldn't boot and the chips in the middle are different from the one i had. I had an intel pentium 4 socket 478 before it. It powers on but displays nothing on the screen. Its not loose cables or anything. Anyone help? Thanks.

Are you sure you inserted the processor fully and the correct way round?

Try resetting the CMOS, what motherboard is it?

Also you may have to hold a specific key down on the keyboard when you turn it on to reset the cpu clock parameters to a fail-safe value , check with the manual or motherboard manufactures web site.

if not try putting the old chip in and if it starts up go into the BIOS/CMOS set-up and see if you have an option to set the cpu parameters to auto then swap chips.
