I've caught an interest to read about how hardware and such actually works and I've come across so many technical terms. I have lots of programming experience but have very little understanding of hardware. I want to learn how microprocessors and their hardware, like the memory and I/O, work, along with understanding the binary and hexadecimal numbering system. Are their any books or something along those lines that can explain all of this very thoroughly and good enough that someone with little experience could catch on? Thanks

Look for Upgrading and Repairing PCs by Scott Mueller.
The 18th edition is the most current. The 19th edition is supposed to come out sometime in November.
