I have 2 questions concerning installation of xp boot up: First, out of my experiences with the installing windows I notcie that some times the product key pops up in the middle of the installation and other times it runs straight through. Why is this and is there anyway around the product key screen popping up during the install? Secondly, is there a key finder for this type of situation.

    Hi

Generally OEM installs or recovery will go straight through as the licence key is embedded in the setup as these are pre-installed and coming from imaged files on the HD ( simplified as there are more alternatives to this dependent on version used ), Retail or bought OEM versions you need to enter the key at the requested time.

You can create an Unattended Setup file to automatically setup XP, generally used in multiple installs, but you can do this at home, was going to post all the TechNet docs on how to do this like this one http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314459 but they are not as clear as this guide http://www.hytekcomputer.com/Articles/XPInstall/1.shtml

You can find the licence key of an already installed XP by using something like one of these http://www.majorgeeks.com/Magical_Jelly_Bean_Keyfinder_d2612.html or http://www.majorgeeks.com/Keyfinder_Thing_Lite_d5253.html
