I have a question, what is the difference between file version and product version of software?

Good question. I have always taken the difference to be this: The "Product version" is the difference between, lets say, Windows XP home and Windows XP Professional, while a "File version" would refer to a change or revision in a particular part of an entire product.

    Hi

Its a strange one this in that a rule of thumb is that product version is say a software is at version 5.x and the .x is the file version, so you may get version 5.1 and then 5.2 etc
