Program that brightens video??

    Hey

    I took a video with my digital camera and it turned out really dark. Is there a program out there that can brighten the video for me?

    The format of the video file is avi

    Using something like Quicktime, or MovieMaker or some of the others, turning up the Contrast will end up washing out the video. Then again, it could up being the monitor or TV that is making it appear dark. Try on another TV or Computer and see if it is still the same way.

    VirtualDub would do the job pretty easily:

    Just apply a brightness filter. You can apply other filters too, like sharpen, colour tweaking...

    Thing is with video though is that if it's dark brightening it will just make all the dark parts more grey. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to "brighten" the image without totally destroying it. At least with low res and low depth videos most consumer cameras take
