Program that checks sites

Anyone know something that wont feel on my computer to much and scan websites before you go to them?

 

I'm not paranoid and am not a high-risk web site browser but I find WOT (Web of Trust) fairly reliable. I use it for google searches as it puts a little symbol next to the link letting you know if it is risky.

When I first tried it, I thought that it flagged too many websites as unreliable but I see after 6 mos. or so, it tends to flag sites that require you to view ads as well as those that are actually malicious.

I find it useful in that if I pull up a google search and it tells me right off that 1 of 20 website results is suspect, I can look closer at the result and see if I think it is worth the risk. Usually there are many other results that are just as good. I don't notice any real slow-down from having it installed. I find that the blue (?) symbol just means no one has reported on that site so it is probably safe and not a cause of worry, so if the result looks good I go to site anyway.

The only time I got a really bad virus was from clicking on a "Scan for Outdated Drivers" link from what I thought was a reputable site. WOT seems to flag such links so you think twice about doing it.
