My brother is addicted to a game on the web, and I am currently looking for a program that prevents him from downloading without authorization. (Password)

I tried making his account limited, but he does Safe Mode and makes himself a Administrative Account.

So, is there any program you guys/gals can tell me of to prevent that from happening?

    Thanks MG!

Boot password/By setting a boot password, you can make your computer prompt for the password every time it is restarted.

WinGuard Pro will "block software installations." WinGuard Pro comes in a "freeware" as well as a "premium" edition [which costs about $18 bucks]. I believe you'll have to upgrade to premium if you want to use the option to "block software installations."

Note: I use this software [with my workplace computer] to block all kind of things and I highly recommend the premium edition. You can also block things like Windows Startup, folders, files, disallow access to all types of programs and windows, and lock .zip files, the desktop, Task Keys and setup for multiple users.

It can be a little tricky to use so I would definitely suggest carefully reading through the help files first.

    Good Luck!

Go into safe mode and put a password on the administrator account so he can't get around you.

Try http://www.Ax-Soft.com . It has AppsProtector XP which will allow you to Lock programs (that are already downloaded). Simply let him download the game and then lock it with AppsProtector. Simple. He can't get into AppsProtector to disable it because the program itself is password protected, and he also can't get into the locked game.

Other than that I dunno what to tell you.

Yes I agree. I've been using WinGuard for about two or three years at work to keep 'prying eyes' out of my files and the program does that and a lot more. You can actually 'create your own' settings for not only blocking access to downloads from the web - but also for locking folders, programs, files etc. in many ways.

I usually try to use mostly freeware however in this case I prefer the premium edition of WinGuard which like I mentioned earlier; is only about 18 bucks but it can do a lot more than the pared down free edition of WinGuard.

    Good Luck!
