    Hi.
I am tired of slowdowns and interrupts due to individual software updates, day after day: windows, chrome, mozilla, flash player, shockwave, java, skype, etc.
Any software to do all the updates once a month would be great.
And each update is more demanding, making soon, not so old computers are obsolete.
All this is meant for us to spend our money on new hardware quite often.
At least, how to make scheduled update of Chrome. This damn consumes 100% CPU and takes many minutes on most computers.
    :confused

Except for Windows, nothing on my computer is set to automatically update or even check for updates. As much as I frequent this and other computer forums, I hear pretty quickly when an update is available for a program I use. Nothing is so critical that it'll hurt anything if I don't hear about one for a few days. And, on the plus side, I'll hear about any problems/issues with an update before it gets installed.

    The easiest way:
    • only install software that you need
    • run any updates in the morning before you start working

Something like Patch My PC or perhaps Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) might do the trick.

Both will scan the software on your system and then identify programs in need of updates and then offer to actually 'automatically update' those that are out of date.

Side Note: While I do not believe you can "Schedule Updates" you could simply start up the individual program at which point the scanning goes very fast; as does the actual final updating process.

    Good Luck -- COMP

    Thanks for your responses.
Sure, I will turn off automatic updates and I will use some recommended software by COMPUABLE.
