programs are missing under start

After cleaning a bunch of Malware, Thanks TimW, the only issue I have left is when I go to Start~All Programs, I get a very short list and none of my programs are there like excel, paint, word, etc

You can recreate the shortcuts by going to the folder where a specific program is located, right click on the programs .exe file, choose create shortcut from the list (you can rename the shortcut to what ever you wish, but don't rename the .exe file) and then drag the shortcut to start, programs, and place in desired location. The location of MS Word is C/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office12/WINWORD.EXE. You can also place the shortcut in the users start menu folder, located in the Documents and Settings folder. Most programs exe files are located in the Program Files folder or the Windows folder. Paint is located in C /Windows/System32/mspaint.exe. Right click mspaint.exe, choose create shortcut, (shortcut will be created at the end of the system 32 file as I recall) Right click the short cut, choose rename, rename it Paint, then drag the shortcut to start, all Programs and drop where you would like it to go, probably in the Accesories folder. After placing the renamed shortcut in the start menu you can delete the shortcut you created in the system folder. There are other ways of accomplishing this but this was the easiest for me. If you can't find one of the .exe files try a search of all files and folders, and choose show hidden files and folders as one of the options. Confused yet?:wave
