programs close slowly

I have posted here before and because of your help, I ran all of the malware programs, etc., and apparently there is no malware on my computer.
When I restart my computer all works fine. But, after awhile, all of my programs start to close very slowly. Other than malware, could there be another reason? Any thoughts out there? Thanks!

Thanks - I have already done the basic maintenance stuff and do them all regularly. Don't see any programs under services that are out of the ordinary. Any other thoughts? I appreciate your help!

 

could you provide a bit of system info.
What version of windows and the amount ram you have for example.

 

Windows XP SP3
3.0 RAM
145 GB Hard drive (117 free)

 

OK. #1 and #2 are snapshots of task manager when nothing is happening. #3 is a snapshot when IE is closing. Does this help?
