Programs Not Responding

I have a HP Celeron (R) 3.06 GHz, 3.07 GHz 504 MB Ram. Microsoft XP Home Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 2.I have Verizon/Yahoo browser with high speed access always on. I am having constant problems with programs not responding both on and off line including Task Manager. I also have a problem with pages and "Message Boxes" freezing on my desktop. The only way I have found to eliminate the pages and boxes is to restart my computer. I have run all of the spyware recommendations and still have this problem. Please note that Registry Mechanic found 300+ errors that it will not fix unless I puchase the product. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, i really need some help here!!!
I think i accidently deleted something in my laptop.
NONE of my programs works. Everytime i click a program the window "open with." would appear. I tried to reboot my laptop with a XP cd but it doesnt work in any way at all. A bluescreen appears and it says i have a problem with my harddrive. Somehow, i know i can fixe this by readding what i deleted or something. Please help me please please please!
