When I start my computer, Windows OS starts fine and very fast. The problem is that non of the programs that are supposed to be starting automatically are starting. Windows OS starts, I get my desktop just fine, but no other programs start running. My firewall, virus program, etc....don't start. I also found that it takes a really long time to start IE7. It just sits there for about 2 minutes. Almost like all of the windows apps weren't started to begin with. I've checked the mscofig to make sure all the startup programs were activated and they are. I've run all anitvirus/spyware programs and found nothing. Can anyone help please?

I'm running Windows XP. I've run malwarebytes, spybot search & destroy, ccleaner, superanti spyware, AVG antivirus. All came back clean.

    What firewall have you?

I have Comodo. I have uninstalled it and rebooted the machine and it still did not launch the programs. I have since installed Comodo again with the antivirus.

So you run AVG and Comodo's full free suite now? That is not a good idea. What about running without AVG and check that out? Remember to search for remains and delete them manually...

Let me clearify. I had AVG on the computer. I ran a scan and found no problems. I've since too AVG off because I was not able to update it. The computer kept telling me that I had no internet connection ... even though I did. As of right now I have Comodo antivirus and firewall. No other firewalls or antivirus are running or installed on the computer. I have deleted all traces of AVG.

I don't receive any dll errors. All programs run as long as I start them manually.

I'm wondering if a windows file for service is corrupted, but I wouldn't know how to check that.

I've since fixed the problem. I believe that some of the windows system files were corrupt. I have a Dell computer which allows you to restore your computer to the time it was built and delivered by pressing and holding the cntl key plus F11 after the Dell splash screen. All is well now. Thank you very much for trying to help.
