I have two user accounts on my Windows XP PC. Some programs e.g Apache, MYSQL, AVG scanning are running under task manager for both users, How do I stop these applications starting up in the first place for the other user ?

Login as the user in question, click Start > Run and type msconfig and press Enter. Click the Start Up tab and uncheck the programs you want to stop from running at start up.... easy, no? ;)

EDIT: I was thinking- you might have to login as Admin but then the programs wouldn't start for any users.... I'll try to do some more research and post some better info.............

Thanks for the replies. I have XP home and the solution provided seems to have speeded up logging in very much. The power of the internet eh ?
