So i'm having this problem and was wondering if somebody could help me out here. My computer will just not open programs for whatever reason. Usually the error is the generic windows "this program has encountered a problem" message, but also more specifically when i try to open a program liuke cubase it says "this program failed to initalize properly" then gives an address like 3x9000000000. Which looks like it could be a ram memory address. so i've speculated that my ram could be messed up and i have to reboot to flush it then it gets kinked up after a bit, although this is all very much speculation. I will note that my computer hasn't had the o.s. re-installed for awhile so i think maybe it's one of those quirks that just pops up and won't go away until you re-install. Which i will do eventually but i just hate doing it so much that i thought i would ask here before goin ahead. And insight appreciated. Thanks, Arit

well Arit.. I would suggest removing the RAM one module at a time and testing to see if one RAM module is obviously the cause.

You can try mem testers but may run into problems running it if your memory is bad. So start with pulling the RAM first, then you can try a mem tester.

You should also consider scanning for viruses.

thanks kodo, I just noticed that it looks like i was saying the programs won't open period! which they will, just after my computer hasn't been rebooted for awhile seemingly unrelated programs stop opening even though they may have opened earlier. As far as ram goes.. i only got one stick.... i don't think there are anymore laying around.. so maybe i can find a different way to check ram. My virus checker runs a complete test daily plus monitors incoming stuff, so i don't think it's a virus. Ya think it could really be ram though, My speculations were pretty.... speculatory, I'm not sure if that address has anything to do with ram.

if your system works fine for a limited period of time and then errors start to pop up, then I'd say it could be a heat related issue too. If RAM is bad, it's bad; but either your CPU or your RAM could be getting too hot. Have you checked to make sure all fans are working in the case and on the CPU?

Have you scanned for spyware as well.. ?
