i just posted an entry under drivers for the same thing; anyone figure out how to run project igi on winxp with the nvidia geforce4 card, so the crosshairs are visible? thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Sorry, lets change the rules just to suit you.

It's common courtesy, and basic forum rules. No forum (or members for that matter) appreciates, or allows double-posts.

i apologize insomniac, i meant nothing by it. i'm new to the forum and didn't see it in the rules section. have you ever uninstalled the latest version of a graphics driver and downloaded an earlier one successfully? (swapping geforce 4 for version 23.11 from nvidia). i'm not a big computer guy and wasn't sure if it were possible or recommended. please advise.

No need for apology and sorry if I came off a bit harsh.

Anyway, I just did similar to you, and I always just install over the existing drivers and have never had a problem.

Some people have had problems, and some recommend various utilities to remove the existing driver before installing the new one, but I have never found that necessary.

Also, deleting the old drivers won't give you the "driver rollback" feature in XP, so it's really up to you how you do it.

Having just said all that, here is some info from nVidia.

sweet. thank you. for this particular deal, do you know of the specific driver needed for igi? i see that nvidia doesn't have any driver version 23.11 posted anymore, but did have some "stereo3" thing that was posted. i think it was an application, not a driver. anyway, any ideas on what will work for igi on xp?

I have tried everything for Project IGI to work, to no avail.

Some sites indicate it's the video card, namely my GeForce 4 MX 440, while others say it's the mouse driver.

I've tried different drivers for both the mouse and video card and nothing has helped.

I gave up on it a while ago and would be very interested if anyone has found a solution.

HERE is a thread on the subject.

I'v just grabbed IGI off the shelf installed and played no probs on the system in my sig,xp pro sp2 fully up to date,77.77 drivers,I think I remember having the same prob I think its something to do with the way your desktop is setup, try alt tabbing out then clicking the game box to get back in,or pressing the windows key, then going back to the game

will do. thanks for the tip. in the meantime, i just took a little piece of tape and placed a red dot in the center, shot a few rounds and put it on the screen where the bullets hit. the "makeshift crosshairs" are working quite well.

Rikky, anyone ever tell you that you sound like a girl when you laugh? :)

I don't have Project IGI installed, but when I do I will try out your suggestion. Thanks for that.

mjg94, did Rikky's idea help or not? You might have to peel the tape away to see it though.
