Proof Gamecube is better than PS2

this article proves the hardware in the gamecube is superior than the Playstation 2. It's funny because people seem to have the misconception that GameCube is weak but in reality, it is a better more powerful machine than the PS2!

Well, doesn't surprise me, considering the Gamecube is newer.

But, what good is a machine with little following or software backing?



PS2 has tons of software.

Xbox has excellent hardware.


Jack of all Trades, master of none does not fair well in the console arena.

Maybe your title should read the Gamecube is more powerful than the PS2, because better hardware doesn't = better console.

 

good hardware doesn't define a system.... it's the games that define the system... so as long as nintendo continues to release games catered to 9 year old kids, PS2 and XBox will continue to reign and outsell Nintendo, which they have clearly been doing in the past....

 

lol ok so if for some reason psone released an awesome game it would sell like hot cakes, nope great games isnt everything, there has to be a happy medium im sorry i had to throw in some sarcasm

 

obviously gamecube has better hardware than ps2, but not that much a margin as xbox or xbox 2 will be. also gamecube lacks a lot of good games, which on the other hand are avalaible in numerous quantities on ps2. u just dont want to buy a console which is superior hardware wise n keep looking at it cuz of no available games.

 

Wow... this thread smells like the year 2000 (before PS2 was released)

There was never any doubt that the Gamecube and Xbox are more powerful than the PS2, and why shouldn't they be? They came out an entire year afterwards.

However, each system is built on an entirely different platform - so how "powerful" they are is really dependent on the amount of time a developer is willing to invest in building a game.

People said the PS2 was too slow and hard to develop for (just like they said about the PSX, remember?) but yet again Sony has ruled the console market, just as it has in the past. And with jaw-droppingly beautiful games like Jak 3, MGS2, and Gran Turismo noone should really be questioning the power of the console...

People buy the system for the games, and unless something drastic happens next time around (the next generation console war), Sony willl continue to dominate. As long as all the developers are on Sony's bandwagon, so will all the gamers.
