Not IPConfig, IFConfig. It appears that you are connected, but for BigPond, you have a little work for it to work. Check the Firewall settings, due to it may be too restricted, and you need to change them.

If you goto yast does it show a detected nic, ifconfig is the command to do in a linux terminal, i need the info posted, it will help me determine how your nic is setup and such, ifconfig is the linux version of ipconfig built in.

But digging further i relized Bigpond uses ppoe to connect, give me a bit and i will find the exact instructions on setup that under suse.

i fully want to make a changeover to suse

its just the linux internet connections are a puzzle even to the most intelligent kernel masters or so i have heard

anyway checking for the yast nic configuration NOW

Dual boot has nothing to do with the active connection. And since it states that you are grabbing an IP from the provider, check the firewall settings for the connection, and is it set for High & that the NIC is on the Internal protect for the Firewall, change to External I do believe (do not have Suse installed at this time, going back to memory).

    Also, there is http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?showforum=40
