proxy changes

what all do i need to change my proxy settings? I have a list of ports and addresses, but do i need the SKs too?

 

Not enough detail. What are you asking. Are you running a Proxy server at your house. Do you connect through a public proxy? Are you running proxy software? and what is a SK?

 

I know how to enter the ip address and prt number to connect, but what do i need to create a proxy server? oh and I ment SOCKS not sk.

 

Fire, you do not create a proxy server. If someone knows how please let me know. Unless you know how to write one in C sharp, C++ or some other low level programming language. A Proxy server is either software you run on your computer that filters out content, blocks ports, allows only certain traffic ect... Not to be confused with a firewall. There are also Proxy server *services* that you would point your browser to that will do all that for you, they are not local obviously. Years ago they were very popular before broadband took over and routers weren't like TV's in everyones home. You needed either a poxyserver running locally or a NAT server running locally to share your internet connection. Windows came out with ICS in 98SE (I think) which is in essence a NAT server. With hardware firewalls, software firewall I would recommed not bothering with a proxy server unless it is an off site one that promises huge bandwidth and the fastest loading pages ever.
