    Hi peeps,

Hoping that someone on here can help me. not really sure when it started but when I start my computer these days I recieve an error concerning psapi.dll.

It only seems to happen when I the 'BThelpnotifier' launches.

I'm guessing that the the dll is missing so I've downloaded the file I need but now I don't know what to do with it.

    Can anyone help?

This dll can be found in more than location on your pc depending on applications such as Motive that may use it. However I believe it fundamentally belongs in C\Windows\system32 folder. It's called System Process Helper. Wait for other posts for additional confirmation. I had this issue associated with Sprints high speed internet Virtual Assistant which loaded at startup. I decided to uninstall Virtual Assistant since I rarely have any dsl related connection problems. When I did, the start psapi.dll related startip alert no longer appeared. But the dll remains in my system32 folder as it should. The issue arose because the psapi.dll was also included in the Sprint associated Motive application. Also the dll in the related application may be different than the version in system32. The startup alert began after I installed IE7.

Thanks for that, the file is in that folder (which obviously suggests that it isn't missing) Tried to overwrite it anyway but it ask for a password so I guess I'll give it a miss.

Don't suppose anyone can suggest what else could be causing it?

    Any help appreciated thanks

Perhaps you could give use the exact error message. The file may not be missing it could just be corrupt.

Yeah sorry the initial message is a little vague, The error is:

SmartBridge Alerts: BTHelpNotifier.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The Procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL

Hope this gives you some idea

    Thanks

You could consider, like I successfully did, uninstalling the related application that is allowing for this startup alert. That zapped it for me. I can always reinstall Virtual Assistant if/when I want.

Otherwise, check out thee_fool's and Mada_Milty's posts on software topic 'another post IE7 installation glitch', authored by me, on page 8 currently.

Also, had you recently installed IE7 too, and if so did this issue arise afterwards? Thee_fool's recommendation looks straightforward, but I opted to uninstall my related application instead. My alert was the same as yours...regarding SmartBridge, etc.

This indeed does look like an IE7 "issue".

Thanks to tritonbox for pointing me in the direction of that thread, it had me thinking that even though my problem wasn't listed on the microsoft page that somehow ie7 was causing this somehow.

    As you spotted 'thefool' thanks

I've already uninstalled IE7 and this has fixed the problem. Glad I use Firefox ;-)

    Cheers for the help folks.

Ok, but too bad you had to sacrifice IE7.
