PSP - USB Device Not Recognized

hey hey new member... k i need help to i got my friends psp here and im trying to copy some music on it... i dl everything i wanted then hooked it up... and the message error popped up and said that the usb device is not recognized... did u guys solve a problem for that?? i really need help i can't find anything anywhere.. the only thing that i heard of was, that the usb cord could be the problem... please help me!!!

Make sure the PSP is on and you're in the USB Connection mode. It should appear in your My Computer directory as a Removable Disk if you're using XP or Vista.
