Have not messed with comp repair much lately, but have a friends computer. Well, he did not put a GPU in it.... so no video.:-D Caught that one. Don't recognize the PSU brand, so I checked the voltage on the 12v and 5v lines.

Getting a little over 6 volts and over 16 volts on these lines with the PC 'on'. (5v and 12v lines) Getting nothing but fans and a led or few lighting up when I turn it on. Put a spare GPU in it, nothing on boot.

    Ideas, suggestions?

What is the motherboard make and model? I had a similar issue with my current motherboard asus p9x79ws rev1. My cpu fan was connected to the cpu fan power on the board. I had to switch that to a regular fan connector for me to post.

Or try a known good PSU.

Mobo is an Ausu MSA97 LE. Don't like how the mobo is mounted, back plate is blocking a lot of the USB plugs. I think I am going to pull it all out and reinstall, mobo is a little loose in the case, wondering about possible short on the case.

Owner says he has a psu, I don't have too many spare parts, and am not motivated enough to pull the one out of this computer for testing. Ain't getting paid that much.

But thanks for the heads up, will give that a try if reinstalling all hardware does not work.
