My PSU died, so the PSU and CPU fan went on for a sec, and then nothing happened. So i replaced the PSU. Now everything works...i can access the BIOS and everything. HD spins, and CD opens/closes. The only "small" problem is that it doesn't recognize the IDE peripherals. I can't start it since "HD wasn't found", and under BIOS, it just says Primary IDE: NOT FOUND, etc. for every IDE. Why is this? did the PSU short something in my mobo? any info will be much appreciated.

I had a nearly new Intel mobo lose the ide channel out of the blue.
And I'm sure you could lose an ide channel from a psu going bad as well.
I would do all the normal trouble shooting first if possible.
Change the ide cable if you have a spare.
If you have another computer to use
for a minute, put your hard drive in the other computer to see if it is recognized by the os. That's it off the top of my head.....

Yeah, checked HD, thats fine...... Both CD and HD are not found. Can i Use a USB HD for a boot drive? I think u can.....

Some BIOS versions will allow for this. Check with your mobo manufacturer. If your current BIOS does not support booting from USB, there may be anewer BIOS version that does. Usually there are release notes of some sort so you can check what has been changed in an "update".
