My PSU died (Antec AR300 - Antec Aria Enclosure) so I replaced it and the new one works-- The computer fires up no problem, loads into XP without a waver but the psu fan is not turning and the heat builds real quick.

So, I'm thinking it's the MB..somehow that 3-pin psu fan connector isn't doing its job...

    any ideas?

i'm thinking new mb, but would rather not.

Not familiar with your Antec AR300 - Antec Aria Enclosure and am confused as i thought that a PSU provides all power for the computer, so you saying this fan has a feed outside of the PSU ?? confused

he's saying the fan that is built into the PSU isn't spinning.

Right. The fan is internally connected to juice but the actual turning is controlled by 3-pin connector (GND - +12V - SENSE) on the mother board (SYS_FAN).

I think something happened with this 3-pin as my former PSU fried itself. As I mentioned, the new one powers up the computer fine but will soon fry itself as well without its fan turning.

The connectors on the mobo are usually for the CPU fan and some extra fans if you use them. Unless your PSU is one I am not familiar with, it is defective. Either replace the PSU or look info replacing the fan in the PSU.

    Good luck.

yeah, I just figured that out. The 3-pin is just to monitor the fan speed..the new psu isn't working. New one on the way.

Probably too late, but never skimp on the PSU. Expect to spend some money one.

Hope things work out for you!
