building a new computer and have been looking up stuff on it. found a case that looks ok for my needs and it comes with a P.S.U. TYPE AT/ATX/P.S.3 450W. cant find any info on it after doing a few quick serches and im wondering if it will work for SLI 7600GT's with a amd 64 3700+

heres a pic. of the side of the psu http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/11-162-036-09.JPG

    Welcome to MG. :)

A 450W PSU will be fine for just about any PC. It really depends on the number of peripherals that you hang off of it but any PSU of 350W and above should be ample for most people. :)

That power supply is junk! Its no where near good enough for an sli setup and a 3700+ it only has 18a on a single 12v rail, this is very low even for a generic psu

Most psu's are cheap that come with cases its where they make thier money this is no exception,do you have the link to the cases PSU spec sheet or the newegg case link I'm sure there are more performance inadequacies if you look close, you wann be lookign at a psu with around 30a on the 12v rail its what you need to power your video cards, overall watts is unimportant

    I Agree 100% with Rikky

There are many so called Brand name's that are junk too.
Expect to spend around $100 or more for Quality one's, it is possible to find some good one for less.

OCZ has a couple new Model's thats kicking Butt

$30 Case/PSU combo, What do you think your going to get?

The PSU isn't a good place to slim down, IMO it's the single most important piece of hardware
When a PSU dies it can & will take other hardware with it!
If that 50 cent PSU dies & Kills your $230 CPU, tell me where the savings will be.

Well on the one you linked it says "Output +3.3@36A,+5V@30A,+12V1@18A,+12V2@18A,-12V@0.8A,-5@0.5A,+5VSB@3.0A" dosent that mean its only 18amp? or are the 12v rails added together for the 30amp needed?

This is the only thing that i cant find much info on. all the req on the vidcards and cpu's say like 400-450 watt needed but doesnt say anything about amps unless im missing something.

This is my 1st computer im building so forgive my ignorance =\.

What matters most is the total amps of the +12v rails
The 600w I posted has two +12v rails with total of 36amps
    The second, a 700 w has 4 +12v rails with a total of 45 amps

I use a OCZ 520w powerstream which has 33 amp on a single +12v rail, also it's SLI certified http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/power_management/ocz_powerstream_power_supply-sli_ready_

The number of + 12v rails doesnt really matter so much as the total of +12v amps
As for total watts many manufactures (mainly generic & sub quality brand name) twist the true rating so I dont worry about the total watts

Exactly, the psu you posted has a max output of 18a,but what does Max mean? Its happy to put out 18a continuously?Hell no,its been tested at in the antarctic at -50 out of 100 tested one put out 18a just before exploding :)

Thats just a few tricks they use to get the wattage up,there are many more,I have seen many people quote 90% of all pc hardware problems are PSU related and I wouldnt be suprised its the one component thats always overlooked and the one that can cause the most problems

    'OOO' 8 hour sale

Not saying that I disagree with you but ampage isn't everything - for a 460W PSU 14 or 15A is ample (if you'll pardon the unintended pun :) )

Do i need the PCI-e cables ? what i heard of pci e is it draws power from the motherboard and doesnt need a power hookup like AGP's do.

Keep it in context were talking about a gaming machine,an SLI gaming machine with a 3700+,the dual video cards will get all their power from the 12v line,a 460w PSU with 15a on the 12v rails if fine for surfing pc with onboard video but not dual 7600's which is the PC in question, for that matter even for a single 7600

There is a reason why PSU manufacturers have moved into putting Amps into the 12v its where its needed in a modern computer

No not specifically some motherboards have pic-e extra power which you can used a standard molex connector for via a converter, its best to buy a psu that is SLI compliant if you want to go SLI in the future which will have all the connector and adapters needed :)
