I am buying a new computer and it includes a 330w power supply. I have been told this is not enough for what I am buying. The system is :
CPU : AMD Athlon x2 3800+ Dual core
    RAM : 1024MB DDR2 (Dual Channel 2x512 533mhz)
    Graphic card : ATI x850 xt 256MB
    Motherboard : Asrock ALIVESATA2 ATX AM2
    Hard drive : 250GB S-ATAII 300

    CD/DVD Drives:
    18x DVD+R/RW Dual Layer Writer
    16 Speed DVD

I will be gaming. How powerful of a PSU should I be looking for and what should I be looking for in a PSU? Can anyone recomend any quite cheap ones(I prefer it to be low noise)?
Also can anyone recomend a decent cheap sound card and a decent pair of headphones.
    Thanks , all recomendations appreciated.

ASRock boards are (IMHO) not that great... the price is low for a reason. A good low priced board maker is EliteGroup (aka ECS - www.ecs.com.tw ). And your PSU is WAY too small! Go with at least a 500w... I don't have any brands off the top-o-my-head but with PSU's especially, cost is a factor. If you have 2 PSU's, both 500w, and one is $39.00 and the other $109.00, which is better? ;) Good luck and game on!!! Oh yeah- if $$$ is not a concern, check out boards by ABit or GigaByte: quality stuff!!!!

Thermaltake has decent PSU's at a reasonable price and like the Hoop said 330W is way to low. I would be looking for a 650w PSU so there is a little "Head" room for future expansion

Sorry BCGray, I have to dissagree about Thermaltake PSU's
They have Terrible History of over rating thier PSU & a large excessive death rate on several models
They do have some that have been proven to be good or OK but for the price you'll pay for those you can get way better from other brands

    Ok , i'll guess i'll get a 650w.
Thanks for all the advice and all the replies now I have an idea.
Oh and are all 650w the same voltage or not? And how much do 600w PSU cost about? Thanks

if you live in england here is a very good idea on what PSU you can get.

530W Hiper and by the way 530w is sufficent enough.
But if you look around on the website at the pother PSU's there are many others for example I reconmend that you dont get a very cheap one. Especially with the specs that you have given us above.

I also reconmend the Hiper company for a PSU as i have used them for many years and they are at the top of the PSU market in my opinion.

    just take a look anyway.
