Just ordered two GTX 980s to upgrade my current two MSI GTX 680 Lightnings. :major

Has anyone else tried the new cards? I tend to skip a release, before I upgrade.

Looking forward to see higher FPS in both World of Tanks and World of Warcraft on a 2560 x 1600 monitor.

I would have liked getting the Gigabyte G1's, but the cards were to big for my Temjin TJ11.

Well, I didn't get the 2 cards that I wanted, sold out before it got to the shipping processing.
So, after doing a bit of research, I found that I could just go for the 970 instead, since it is nearly the same overall good performance as the current top end card. So, I ordered two, and hope they come this week. I might go with a third, not for gaming, but for folding.

That is some coin on those cards. Would love to see how you like them. And if interested in selling one of the old ones, shoot me a PM.:-D

What wattage is your PSU? Make and model? I'm going to guess you need at least 400 watts just for the GPUs.

Mine is an OCZ 500 or 600 watt PSU, don't skimp on the PSU. I have a NVDIA GTS 450 running now. Shoot me a PM if you want to sell one of the old cards.

... And the two 970s rock. Yes I have the coil whine that people hate and dread, doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm thinking about getting a 3rd card.

My question, will my system handle 4 cards? Or will I need a higher output PSU. I'm currently running a 1 KW psu.

Why 3 or 4 video cards? Mostly folding, also 4K monitors, I run all games at 1600p and was curious if I can push 4k or not.

4 thousand monitors? Come on, I love dual monitor, can see 3 or 4 for some applications, but 4 thousand? :-D

Sounds fun, enjoy the new card(s)! With that sucker folding, you won't need a heater this winter.

Anyway, most gamers play at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Then there are the "hard core" gamers at 2560 x 1440. There are those who also play (and pay) for 2560 x 1600. Similar to those who bought (me) 1920 x 1200 monitors (x2).

The 4K gamers are a rare bunch at 3840x2160 resolution. I'm waiting a bit before I take the plunge.

    I'm at 1600p.
