    Hi

I personally think both are good and would recoment either of them as good, but I would also recomend the free O&O Defrag as good also.

If you run Windows with the NTFS file format then Windows is not so bad in fragmenting unless you are installing and uninstalling multiple applications all the time or moving large files around, so defrag is not as crucial as it is with Fat32, but a good defrag every 3 months is good for the PC soul.

I run O&O Defrag Pro 14, and basically have it set to Auto defrag, so it will do it when the PC is idle if it needs it, I do not defrag my C: drive as those are SSDs so dont need it, but my data drives do need a defrag once in a while as they store Image backups of my PCs and those could be in the 20-60GB file ranges as well as moving large files around from HDD to HDD.

But I would suggest you use a defrag application you are happy with the GUI and its performance.

I've never tried Smart Defrag. I tried Puran, loved it and that is what I'm currently using.

For Vista/W7 users who restart their machines frequently, this thread at MSFN might be an interesting read.
