Purchase of a Laptop.

Hey everyone, so it is time for me to buy my very first laptop but before I do I always like to run a few things by everyone to get the best bang for my buck.

To start off I was wondering where people are looking at and or have gotten their laptops from. Currently I am willing to spend around 400-700 bucks for one. The main purpose for my laptop is to keep in touch while I am off on travels/work since my main desktop has everything I need for that hardcore gaming etc.

At this point I was thinking of purchasing a laptop from HP, and with the after holiday sales, the V6000Z and V6000T have price dropped.



This is where my main questioning comes in...

The Z;

Stock it is a Mobile AMD Sempron(TM) 3400+ (1.80GHz/256KB)

I was wondering if the $115 dollar price jump for the AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-50(1.6GHz/512KB) was worth it

Stock it is a Intel(R) Celeron(R) M Processor 420 (1.60 GHz)

same as above, if the $120 dollar price jump for the Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2050 (1.60 GHz) was worth it.


Now comparing them both, overall for a laptop which in your opinion and facts that you know, is better? AMD or Intel.

Also is 1gb ram for a laptop excessive since I will mostly be doing just email, browsing, maybe a little gaming.

I'd go with the Z and get the Turion with a gig of ram. This covers you for everything possible. Either processor will be fine as they are both good.
