Purchased MBAM won't finish bootups

I have been using Malwarebytes free edition for a few years, and decided to purchase the paid copy with "Protection Module". I set it to "Start with Windows". Aside from MBAM working well, I have a problem booting up now. The bootup process goes well right to the end, and then the desktop freezes. If I hover the arrow over the taskbar I see the hourglass turning end over end. My only recourse is to do a hard shut down, and try again. Usually after one or two tries It boots successfully. It also hung once as I shut down on the "Windows is shutting down" page, and I had to do a hard shut down.
Experimenting, I deselected "Start with Windows", and the problem went away. I have received suggestions that it "could" be a conflict with my NOD32 AV v4, but with my limited knowledge nothing jumps out at me. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance for any help. :)

You should provide at least some basic info about your system. For starters, which version of Windows (and which Service Pack) are you running?

If no one else has some better suggestions you might try the following to get some additional info:

Uninstall MB and using CCleaner (free in the downloads section here and a good tool to use regularly) run the Windows and registry cleanup with the default settings. Then reinstall MB and see if you still get the freeze up.

Uninstall your NOD32 AV and temporarily install one of the free AV programs available here at MG in the downloads section (e.g. AVG free) to see if that makes the problem go away. If it does that will be a good indication that some sort of NOD AV conflict is the source of the problem.

What happens if you deselect "Start with Windows" for MB, boot up to Windows and then start MB manually? Does the freeze still occur?

Do you know how to check Windows logs of error codes and problems encountered? That may give you some helpful info.

Try some or all these things and report back on the results along with info about your version/SP of Windows.

    Good luck!

Hi Eesak, Forgive me for not including any computer info. I'm running XPsp3.
I posted on the Walwarebytes forum, and was asked if I excluded a list of MBAM files from my NOD32 AV, which I did, and still have the problem. If I deselect "Start with Windows" in MBAM, the problem goes away. I have this copy of MBAM on 3 snapshots and it has run great in the free form and the paid form with Protection turned on, as long as I don't select "Start with Windows. I found a person over at Wilders security forums who had the same exact problem, but he doesn't respond. So I'm not the first.
I don't see how uninstalling MBAM and re-installing will help, since I am running a good copy. I am not schooled in windows logs, as I'm just a home user. I guess I could uninstall my AV if I had to, but it's such a hassle.
Any how there's where I am at the moment. thank you for your help. a solution would be appreciated. :)
