I have some photos on my external hard drive that I saved off of my old pc, which I had scanned in with HP software and when I try to open them on my laptop it tell me it can't. When I search for a program to open them I all I got was a bunch of registry repair and cleanup download stuff. Do I need that and which do I use?

This does not look too promising http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-printing-questions/Accessing-pvm-files/td-p/23148 as it appears the photos themselves are not part of the PVM file.

Maybe try to open the pvm file in notepad and see if it indeed references a location on the old hard drive where the actual photo was stored. It won't get your photo back but it should verify that the information in the thread is accurate.

Thanks a million. The photos were in another location. I am very relieved, they were ancient photos and I don't know if they even exist anymore on hard copy. I am very grateful.

    Excellent!

I'm glad you still had the computer/hard drive to retrieve them. :)
