    hello,
I am a newbie here, but am really mad about popup ads. Please advise me if this is not the forum to pose the following question/statement:

The popup ad in the subject is the worst yet. It attaches to your browser, replacing my homepage with it' own. Before I can reset my home page, my screen is filled with it's stupid animated ads.

I have run Adaware back and forth, to no avail. It comes right back. Please, can anyone tell me how to be rid of this monster?

    thank you

    Welcome to Major Geeks! :D

there are a few solutions to this problem. I would recommend SpyWare Blaster to stop onscreen ads etc. It does a very good job. http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=2859

You could also try MyIE2 which is an application that sits on TOP of IE (logically). It uses the IE engine but has built in pop up stopping power.

There several other ways too, but those are the ones I would start with.

I visited the site in question. They are popping up a prompt to ask you if you want to set their page as your home page. I suggest you say NO to this.

Geez, can't seem to quote a part instead of the whole post. Anyhow, like it was said "Just say no". It's always spy or adware.

    Hello,

Thanks for the response you posted, suggesting remedies. IE is just about totally useless this AM. PWALLET.COM has attached to it and replaces itself as my homepage whenever it is opened. It asks if you 'want' to set it as your homepage, answering 'No' does No good. It is already the homepage, blocking access to anything else. I started to install MYIE2, but have been unable to finish the install. Part of the install requires copying files from the Web, and as soon as IE is called PWALLET appears with it's ads. I can't seem to get around it. The Only way I can get on the Web is through an email link.

Would uninstalling/reinstall IE do any good?

    Not sure how PWALLET works.

Maybe you could try removing it as Homepage :

    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Select Internet Options
    3. Press "Use Blank"-button for the homepage.

Maybe you could try uninstalling it :

    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Select Add/Remove Programs
    3. See if anything is called Pwallet or similar

Maybe you could try to remove it from the startup :

Else try to install AdAware and see if it can disable/uninstall PWALLET :

    Hi,

It's getting worse. Have tried the things suggested, no good. PWALLET reassigns my homepage so I have no control. I have a partial install of MyIE2, which I cannot uninstall. I cannot uninstall IE Explorer, I think because of MyIE2.

When I try to run MyIE2, IE Explorer opens with PWALLET, and it just sits there. Nothing showing anywhere to uninstall MyIE2. When I go Start\Controlpanel\add\remove Windows components, check IE Explorer to remove, Windows shows finished, but IE Explorer remains. My OS is WinXP Pro

    thank you

Try running Spybot S&D it seems AdAware and Spybot find slightly different things...
Spybot is designed (I beleive) more towards the hijacking type program that you have run into...

    Good Luck

Another way I found to force IE to use a blank screen is as follows :

Right click the Desktop Icon you use to launch IE
    Select Properties
In the line that says "Target" add the following to the end of the line, exactly as typed here

    -nohome

That will also speed up the start-up of IE window.
