Q-BE Mp3 Player & USB Trouble

Hello,

My sister bought an MP3 player a few days ago and it arrived today - It's one of them tiny things - about the size of a sugar lump - ridiculous.

Anyway, got all the usual stuff with it, manuals, USB cable which acts as a downloading/uploading and charging device.

Anyway, my sister's computer had ME on it - I plugged the USB into the MP3 player and turned it on; it recognised it and I thought things were fine.

This mp3 player uses Windows drag and drop to transfer the music on/off and is capable of playing WMA & Mp3. I used all the right file types and all of that - so it's not that end of things. The MP3 is compatiable with ME/XP and 98SE.

I put the mini-disc (provided) into the computer and couldn't find any software on the disc. One driver file for 98SE was hardly the music software, somewhat promised on the box...

Anyway, after messing about with ME and transferring files over, only to have them show up as: 'NOT PLAYING' on the mp3 player LCD - I decided that installing xp would be a much better job. It's more "up to date" and would transfer the files with particular ease. Or so I thought.

Installed XP, plugged the USB into the port...Nothing...

I re-installed all the USB drivers - but this wasn't an issue as I put my USB Pen drive into the same USB port and it worked fine.

I thought that something could have been up with the ME computer...so I came onto this computer (XP) and plugged it in...nothing again. I usually have no problems with USB's and this was just plain confusing. It seems the mp3 player is only detected when it's "ON" - but after all the transferring earlier, the battery had gone dead and therefore, can't be turned on.

I would charge it, but I have to charge it through the USB cable...so, there's a bit of an issue there.

It's a wild cry for help - but if anyone has a Q-BE then any advice or even any advice would be welcomed. As for now I'm completely puzzled.
