    Hi everyone,

    It's me again.

My Quake III Arena game wont work on my PC with WinXP Pro with SP 2.
It used to run fine when I had Windows 2000 Server a few weeks ago.

    My PC's configured like this:
    852 Celeron
    128 MB SDRAM
Mercury KOB-810e TFSX MoBo 810e Intel Chipset based.
    WinXP Pro

The error I get is this:

Theres no seperate Video Card, It's got an Integrated one which shows up like this:
    Intel(r) 82810e Graphics Controller.

Every other OS I had used to run this game perfectly.
Other games like NFS etc. work well.

Any advice on how sort this out?

It's not and XP issue, I have it running on two Home versions and a Pro. That is a pretty old version (1.11). I think the last patch was 1.32, I'd try that.

But it worked fine on Windows 2000 Server and Windows Professional too.

I would try reinstalling the drivers related to the onboard video and uninstalling and reinstalling Quake III. I've used Quake 3 on multiple computers that use Windows XP. You could also set the application to run in a compatibility mode if you're still having trouble. Sometimes that can help with older games.

Update it like mentioned. Saying it worked in 2000 is irrelevant. This isn't Windows 2000, its Windows XP.

Indeed its not an XP issue. I ran Quake III Just fine on my XP Pro Machine. You are having all kinds of OPen GL issues which means its either your Video Drivers...or your Integrated Video does not like XP...either way, its a Video Problem.

It probably doesn't have the video driver because it relies on the drivers included in XP.

You can try Intel's site and look for a 82810e driver, but you will probably find it's the same version you have already.

I suggest you also uninstall Quake III, and manually delete any residual files, then install it again.

And get the patches, last I looked 1.32 was the latest (and you won't need the CD)!

Actually what I did was I installed a VGA driver from IBM's site meant for IBM PC's and Quake worked. But the PC ran very slow after I installed that dirver.
So I went back to the old one by Microsoft.
