   If I'm not running Windows Firewall or ICS, should alg.exe be running on my computer? If necessary, how can I verify that ICS is not running on my computer? Thanks.

   It appeared after WinXP SP2 was installed and their Firewall enabled. It stayed around after I stopped the firewall, and so I hit "End Process" in the task manager. No problems.
   
   Rename it and it'll never come back
