Question about Avant browser??

Weird thing happened. Probably an easy explanation, but we just got home this weekend and I got online. I typed an address in to my address bar and a a different site address popped up, like the do when you type in a similar address. So I checked my history, and it said that we went to three different sites on the comp. today. Being that we weren't home and nobody was here, is there an explanation for this. Did it somehow show up because we have gone to those sites before?

It might have been the browser checking for the newest avalible version of the site.
