ok sobasicly my question is can i use the cmd from windows 7/vista on my windows xp? like run it from a seprate folder or something?

I am always writting batch scripts and id like to be able to test them on both windows 7 and windows xp but sadly my windows 7 trial ended last year so i have no way of testing them.

so im wondering is it possible to use the cmd.exe from windows 7 on my copy of windows xp(preferably without replacing my existing windows xp version of cmd.exe

Have you tried copying it to a separate folder, not a sub-folder of Windows,
and executing from the RUN command in XP?

As I recall, with older versions of MS-DOS, command.com from a different version wouldn't work.

At least that's how I remember it - certainly could be wrong.
