Hi - I checked previous posts about data recovery software and nothing that I read applied to what I was looking for so I thought I would post my question and hopefully someone will be able to tell me.

I would like a recommendation about freeware data recovery software. The list that is on MG's is long and I am not sure which one to pick. If anyone knows of a good freeware program that I can download from MG's I certainly would appreciate it. Thanks in advance! KathyM

Hi KathyM go for ''Easeas'' its a cracking little prog and have used it many times. It will even get into an unaccesible drive, but be prepared you must have another Hard Drive for which to send the recovered data. You cannot recover and place on the same HD. And wow it recovers everything on the HD so be prepared for some suprises :-D

Actually I am trying to recover any data that I can from a HD that I can't access at all. Hopefully this program might get me some of the word files as well as some powerpoint files - not sure if it will work but I certainly won't pay a 3rd party company to recover the HD....I heard it is REALLY expensive. So, with trial and error I will see if anything can be recovered. Thanks!!

Hi Kathy you will need to have a hard drive with an Operating system. Hitch your hard drive you need to recover from as slave, install the easeus prog onto the operating system drive and away you go retrieving the data from slave to the master.

I am sure hoping that this works.....I have used Ultimate Boot CD and it didn't work and also did Pandora recovery - nothing......so I am hoping that this will work! Keep your fingers crossed! I will post results.....

one morning got a huge error message and it said to reboot - rebooted and got a black screen that said system halted: boot failure - I spent a week on the phone with Dell and M$ and apparently we tried everything short of reformatting.

Since I have been in school I have been trying (previous post) different things. So, Euases (sp) is the next step. but I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind. Thanks! KathyM
