Question about Drivers for Sapphire Radeon HD6450

I'm trying to download the right drivers for my new graphic card (Sapphire Radeon HD6450) but I am unsure which drivers to choose. Is the Catalyst software ok to download? I have never installed a new graphic card before and I am unsure of how to install the proper drivers. I'm also new at at installing drivers. I've read not to use the disc that comes with the graphic card for the drivers but to download them directly instead. I also know I have to uninstall the previous drivers first. I do that by going into the control panel and uninstall program and then choose the intel onboard video drivers and uninstall them, right?

Or is that not the proper way to uninstall the previous drivers?

I am not quite sure what I should do next to get this card properly installed.

I have an older AMD HD card and used the Catalyst Control Center application for several years on an XP platform. Its "welcome" display has a link to check for driver updates. The link is an AMD support page ... http://support.amd.com/en-us/download?src=CCC-CheckForDriverUpdates

This page is intuitively simple for providing your system info to find the current update.
Also note the "how to" articles at the bottom of the page.

A problem with what is on your disc is its likely out of date.

I suggest you create a System Restore Point before starting to update your drivers; that way you can easily go back if something goes wrong.

 

Actually I am not sure if the AMD and SAPHIRE drivers are identical; maybe you should try to download directly from http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/downloads/download_index.aspx?psn=0006&lid=1
