Question about DVD ripping/back up

I have been slowly working through my DVD collection and backing up many of the movies as DivX videos (I can put 6 or 7 movies on one DVD-R and play it on my home DVD player). This has been working great. I recently ripped a few movies that I want to keep in their entirety with the menus, features, etc so converting to a DivX file isn't going to work. So, I ripped the DVDs to my hard drive and that went fine, but now I have 3 or 4 movies and the size of 'em is just a hair over the limit; for example, one movie is 4502mb and the limit for a DVD-R is 4489mb (according to Nero). How can I shave 50 or 100mb off of the ripped DVDs so they fit on a regular disc? Would DVDshrink work for something like this? They've already been ripped and are currently on my hard drive; would I have to re-rip them? With DVD-DL discs being so much more expensive, I'd rather be able to use a regular disc whenever possible.

DVDShrink works great... you should give that a go.
