Hey all, just a couple quick questions.

I have 2 maxtor 120g (internal) SATA HDD's in a system that I am going to part out and sell in favor of using my laptop for everything.

These 2 drives are set up for RAID 0 and have WINXPPRO installed.

What I want to do is put these in an external enclosure to be used with my laptop. I found some that support RAID.

My question is: Will this be a plug & play operation or will I have to set up the RAID array again for the new enclosure? I dont want to lose my data.

Also: Do the parts exist to convert these drives to USB without an enclosure?

I was considering pulling the HDD rack out of old system and making it into a cooling unit for ALL my external drives.

    Appreciate it!

Before you dismantle your old system, move the data or save and restore the data to your laptop. You would very likely need to redo the RAID array in the new enclosure and that will kill the data on the drives.

I would think that you would want to protect the drives with an enclosure but there are converter cables that will convert IDE to USB without an enclosure.
